Food 4 Thought

So I sit on my computer at 12:30 am, and wonder, yet again, what to blog about...I feel like my blog is lame and needs some sort of "theme." Why do I feel like I can't just write what I want?? so ~same bat time, same bat channel~

This past weekend has been ROUGH!! Brian is not working and his schedule just isnt vibing with me! I mean, there is no time to chill and think or veg out. It's go go go all the time. I did hear him say a few times this weekend that this is the busiest he's been in forever. So thank the Lord for that b/c today when I got home from volunteering at the church I was all "I'm napping."----- like end of story, not a question. And NAP I DID! I slept for over 4 hours!! GOOD LORD! I can't remember the last time I did that! Anywho, it was fabulous.

But I'm pretty sure that I love *food* more than sleep. This has been a smorgasbord of food since our...um...tax return and I'm LOVING IT!! Friday was Doc Pierce's Saloon steak for date night. Saturday was Pizza Hut for Mom's 55th. Sunday was Cici's lunch with friends after church that was long overdue. Tonight was Wing's with my awesome sister for some bonding time. Food makes me happy. Food is SOOOOOOOOOOOO something I look forward to. I think about food all the time. I wonder what food will be served at events. I think about where to go out to eat next A LOT. I plan meals and make menus constantly. I like to go to the grocery store when we have money. I love to cook stuff when I can afford the ingredients. I get in on food schedules at church when someone has had a surgery or a baby. I really want to actually LEARN how to cook though...watching Julie&Julia 100 times isn't working :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE to watch the Food Network and Bizarre Foods w/ Andrew Zimmern.

-------side note--------
Brian just told me that he could only "legally" sell like 5 cars a year on Craigslist without getting his dealer license. WHATEVER!------------------

Anywho, back to food, now that I'm all wound up....food makes me feel good. It makes me happy. I remember Granny's cooking the most as MY COMFORT FOOD! OMG it was awesome!! And her pies are *to *die *for!! HELLO!! And I remember certain meals that mean a lot to me...like Mom's pepper steak, granny's holiday spreads and her Wacky Cake.

Mostly though, nowadays, I like to go out b/c that means I don't have to cook. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Doc's Saloon steak. I love Hana Yori's shrimp with lobster sauce. I love breakfast at Hilltop in Lakeville. I miss Bruno's pizza since they burned that bridge at my 30th in October. I am wanting to check out Ruth's Chris and that new chicago style deep-dish pizza place up in Granger. But I still L*O*V*E McDonald's Big Macs, Friday's, OCB, Steak 'n Shake, Mancino's, Chili's (which I just won a gift card to on the radio...I just had to guess the cheating celebrity spouse...which was David Letterman...but anywho) Charlie's, Olive Garden...I could go on and on! So anyone, if you want to get together with me for a meal somtime and PAY...I'm am SoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO IN!!!! :)

It Comes From Within

So I went to the dentist AGAIN today and read a magazine in the waiting room. There was an article about a couple who had grown apart over the years and didn't know how it happened. The woman was repeatedly telling her husband that she felt unimportant . She explained how she never did anything for herself and hadn't done some things that she enjoyed doing since before her and her husband were married. She asked her kids what mommy did the most and they said, "the laundry." (not exactly a legacy!) Then the woman went on to explain how she blamed her husband for her unhappiness. The expert gave a detailed response, but the one thing she said that really stood out to me was how the woman was unhappy because the woman was unhappy ... it really didn't have anything to do with him. She no longer did the things she had liked to do. What did she expect?! When her and her husband were dating she was spontaneous and exciting and the two of them explored things together. No...

This Can't Be Happening!

Will is already old enough to play tee ball!! OH MY WORD!! I remember "walkin' the mile" while in labor, secretly wishing that it was over and done with and my child was already walking and talking and no late nights and loss of sleep would be suffered. I regret that now b/c it happened. He's walking: check. He's talking: check. He's gonna be 5 in less than 2 months: check. Just signed him up for tee ball: double check. This just can't be happening. The time went too fast. I'm not ready to give him up for school either. That's like 6 whole hours in the day that he will be somewhere else, like not with me, like: uncheck! I don't likey. I supposed I could homeschool him??....but let's not fool anyone here...I love my son but I don't want to be the sole person responsible for his smarts and knowledge and stuff like that. I only have an associates degree in general studies...C'MON PEOPLE! I am also realizing that with Will being gone 6 ...

Thankful to NOT be in the Army! (part 1)

I haven't blogged in 4EVER b/c someone has been sick in this house for the last 10 days and right now, it's me. Joy. Anywho, Emily wants me to write 100 things about her but I can't think that hard this morning...although I will do 1. She farts ALL THE TIME! and 2. She really is SUPER DUPER funny! I'll do the rest later. So it's the most wonderful time of the year and I've already done 80% of my shopping throughout the year so, I'm totally ahead of the game and liking it. People are scrambling around trying to find what they're looking for or trying to decide WHAT they're looking for while I am smuggly enjoying browzin! I am always left with the kids stocking stuffers. I try to keep those gifts as random as possible (more fun that way; for me, not necessarily for them). And this time of year always reminds me of my experience in the Army... I remember the BEST christmas-time I ever had...I was in the Army and was desperately trying to get out. I knew...
